“The Growler” from Sigmund Krausz’s Street Types of Chicago: Character Studies, c.1892, Chicago.
This book is an amazing series of photos and commentary by Sigmund Krausz. It’s hard to tell if the subjects are models or actual people off the street, but most look like the real deal. Some are especially racist although a true reflection of Chicago society at the time.
