Roger Ebert (1942-2013) died today, succumbing to his long battle with cancer.
Among his many accomplishments, including the Pulitzer Prize for his Sun-Times work, Ebert was also a screenwriter. Ebert wrote the screenplay and story for the 1970 cult favorite, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.
I’ve always admired Ebert and when I was a kid, he was the first person I ever associated with the city.
