Cynthia Crawford, Dekalb High School Valedictorian, 1984, Chicago far-western suburb, Dekalb. Update: Some people have questioned calling Dekalb a suburb of Chicago. Only recently has it become a part of the “Chicago Consolidated Statistical Area,” so it make sense that it seemed far-fetched; but alas, it is now considered part of Greater Chicagoland: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_metropolitan_area.
