Last weekend, the better-half and I revisited the classic film Some Like it Hot, starring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis; written and directed by Billy Wilder, 1959.
I was surprised to be reminded that the opening scenes take place in 1929 Chicago. It’s worth a watch, as a thinly veiled St. Valentine’s Day Massacre is the catalyst for the protagonists to leave Chicago and head to Miami , disguised as women, with an all-girl jazz band.

Though convincing, the opening scenes were obviously shot on a sound stage in Los Angeles; however, there are many Chicago references, including the ‘L’, Clark Street, our winters, speakeasies and the vaudeville scene.
