Mayor Cermak would succumb to his injuries and die almost one month later.

Arguably credited for creating Chicago’s democratic political machine (which thrives to this day), there are theories as to whether or not the bullet was actually intended for┬áCermak or Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was also at the rally.
